Assignment 1: Team Solar System
Objective: You will be able to identify the planets in the solar system. Wyoming State Standard- Grade 4: Concept 2: Objects in the Sky. ISTE Standards- 1. Creativity and Innovation (a,b); 2. Communication and Collaboration (a, b, d); 3. Research and Information (a, b, c, d).
Student Role: One student is a sports reporter and the other is the Sun, coach of the Solar System.
Audience: Sports fans
Format: An informative podcast interview
Topic: Who are the planets on your team and what are their characteristics? Characteristics should include the location of the planets in the solar system, their size, and any unique feature (rings, moons, what the planet is made of, etc.)
Directions:
1. Visit NASA for Kids: Solar System Exploration to learn more about the Solar System.
2. You will be divided into pairs for this project. One person will be the interviewer and the other will be Coach Sun.
3. Use the Interview Worksheet to plan you questions and answers.
4. Type a script for both of you, making sure you identify each of your speaking parts.
5. Practice the interview together until you feel comfortable and it sounds like a sports interview.

3. Plan out a script detailing the selling points of the planet
